Winter Topic

Lesson: EYFS

Class: Reception Year: 2021 - 2022

For our 'Cold is all around us' topic the children did lots of learning through the quality texts of; Stick man, Here comes Jack Frost, The Way back Home, The Winter Dragon and The Emperors Egg.

After a walk to the forest the children chose a stick to create their own stick person. They used their measuring skills to find a stick that wasn't too short or too long.

Using ipads the children went on a walk around the school foeld to take photographs to show signs of winter around us.

The children learned all about boyancy and explored floating and sinking. They designed and made a boat that would float.

It was very frosty so there was lots of exploration of freezing and melting and working out how to rescue the penguins that had been frozen.
