Christian Aid week & the Big Brekkie

Class: Nursery Year: 2018 - 2019

Our focus for Christian Aid week was learning about why some children in Africa can't go to school.  We learnt some of the reasons why they couldn't go such as their parents not having enough money to pay for them or a uniform, them having to work or look after siblings instead and sometimes schools were too far away.  We learnt that boys had more opportunities than girls to attend school and thought about how we would feel if we couldn't go to school.

Through the Big Brekkie the children learnt how fundraising can help other children be as lucky as them.  They brought a donation in and made delicious fruit kebab rockets.

We also visited the prayer spaces and talked about our own dreams and ambitions - there are lots of aspiring vets, police officers and princesses in Nursery!  The children understood the importance of attending school to be able to achieve their dreams and ambitions.
