Diwali and Bonfire Night W/E 4.11.16

Class: Nursery Year: 2016 - 17

This week we have learnt about the Hindu festival of Diwali.  The children enjoyed hearing the story of Rama and Sita and helped build a castle outside using the large crates.  We developed our fine motor skills by using squeezy tubes of glitter glue to decorate hands with Mehndi patterns.  We created patterns with spots, squiggles and shapes.  The children loved manipulating clay to create their own divas (just like the ones that led Rama and Sita back home).  We decorated them in bright colours and added some extra sparkle.  On Friday 4th we discussed the rules around Bonfire Night to help us stay safe when watching the fireworks.  We had a great time collecting sticks to create our own bonfire and then used 'sparklers' to make shapes and patterns in the air.
