Autumn Term

Welcome to Year 1!

This term our topic is called 'It's good to be me'. We will be thinking about what makes us special.

We will be thinking about the terms 'past', 'present' and 'future' and use timelines to sequence events. We will look at how school has changed since our grandparents were little and comparing some old toys with new toys.

In Science we will be learning about our body parts and what they are used for. We will also be designing and carrying out our own experiments to test one of our senses and recording our results. Can you name any of our senses?

We will be working hard to improve our reading and writing skills to help us with our learning. We will practise handwriting everyday and it is important that we try to use our neatest handwriting in every piece of work we do.

We will be working hard in maths to develop our confidence and skills in all areas of maths, particularly problem solving.

We have a busy term ahead, Year One. Are you up for the challenge?
