Autumn Term

Welcome to your first term in year 1!

We are very excited about the term and year ahead!

This term our topic is called 'It's good to be me!'

We will be learning about the terms 'past', 'present' and 'future' and relating them to events in our own lives. We will begin to use timelines to sequence events chronologically and will be creating family trees based on our own families.

We will also be researching toys throughout time and discussing how they have changed from when our parents and grandparents were children.

In Science we will be learning about our bodies and investigating our five senses. We will be planning simple investigations and carrying them out to draw our own conclusions.

We are having a big focus on our writing this term. We must make sure we are thinking carefully about our spellings and using Fred fingers to help us sound out words. It is also important that we use our neatest handwriting in all our work and take pride in our presentation. We will be having daily Read, Write, Inc lessons to help us improve our reading and our writing.

We have a busy term ahead, Year One. Are you up for the challenge?
